Ashlee Simpson
Revamped show has 'more sex, more drugs, more rock and roll' than original, Colin Egglesfield tells MTV News. So,fans are most likely expecting a lot of drama in to the revamped version of "Melrose Place," which premieres Tuesday night (September 8) on the CW, The original show was always keeping viewers on their toes, so it comes as no surprise that the reimagined version will also deliver plenty of backstabbing, hookups and addictions.
"I actually never [saw the original]. I wasn't allowed to watch it. My older sisters watched it, but my mom always made me go to bed," Katie Cassidy told MTV News. "I know there was a lot of drama, which there will be [on the new show]."
Her co-star Shaun Sipos said the audience will see their fill of bed-hopping and scheming. "I mean, it's 'Melrose Place.' They're revamping it," he said. "You're going to see a lot of mischief. A lot of virility. A lot of people running around together."
Colin Egglesfield revealed that in addition to "more sex, more drugs, more rock and roll," his character, Auggie, will also be stirring things up with Ashlee Simpson's Violet on the series. "It's been great. I've had some scenes with her, and she's fantastic," he said. "Let's just say she's a nubile young lady fresh off the bus, and once she takes a look at Auggie ... I think she has a thing for surfers."
It's a sentiment that Simpson shared last week. "They had such a good vision for it, and it's a little bit grittier than the original and a little bit more cinematic," Simpson said. "There's still good ol' drama, and I was really intrigued by my character."
